I recently retook some pictures of this package design project I did a while back. The project was to find a toy and redesign its packaging. As soon as I saw the Bug Vacuum in the store, I knew exactly what I was going to do. Having had many terrifying encounters with a variety of spiders, I have wished for a handy “bug be gone” device. I decided to design my toy for a girl audience, one who shares in my bug phobia. I drew inspiration from past spider standoffs and used these memories as a starting point for my illustrations.

My dad asked me to make a sign for a LARP event he’s participating in this weekend. The design is inspired by Ragtime, Jazz, and typography from the 1930’s. I feel like the end result is a modern interpretation rather than a complete throwback to the time period. The process was a stretch. I’ve never really done anything quite like it before. My style tends to naturally develop quite differently. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of working with the type as well as experimenting with the colors at the end.

Worked in a small team of Emirates and Americans, to write, direct, and edit a video in which we attempted to dissolve fears and bridge the gap between Middle Eastern and Western cultures. Utilized YouTube and other media outlets to gain widespread exposure and feedback. Created posters, T-shirts, and stickers to promote the video campaign.

I developed this MICA painting student’s portfolio website and tailored my design to her specific requirements for a scrolling gallery and pop-up enlargement of her pieces. I kept the design simple for easy content management.

Another older project. I have fond memories of the photo shoot that produced the images for this project. My wonderful friends were willing to dress up in crazy costumes in the middle of the night and hold an egg & spoon race event. Thanks guys!
The feature spread for an article in SI Athlete investigates the new extreme sport of spoon and egg racing. The quirky photography and interaction with the type helps create a humorous mood. The large graphic shapes and typographic E reference the precarious nature of the sport and the easy possibility of failure.

I had so much fun working on this project. In class we were asked to choose one book or album cover to redesign. I picked an album, bought some limes, and held a photo shoot.
Playing off the band’s original name, The Slightly Fabulous Limeliters, I decided to take my own photography using limes. The imagery chosen reflects the silly nature of their lyrics. The white square is used as a framing element to put emphasis on the figure and reference the true meaning of Limeliters.

What a great play! So intense. I’ve only seen the movie and it was spectacular. One day I would love to actually see it live in a theater. For the poster, I used minimal colors and bold graphic interlocking hands to reflect the intensity and minimalist approach of the Black Box production. The single red hand and line “can 1 convince 11” hints at the inner turmoil that erupts throughout the play.
